Follow our guide and learn how to clean replacement windows properly.

Cleaning replacement windows the right way from start to finish.

Before actually cleaning your windows, there is something you must never forget to do.

Make sure to check the manufacturer’s cleaning instructions.

If there is one provided, follow the instructions since they are usually the best way to clean your window.

Different windows might require different cleaning methods.

Manufacturer cleaning instructions are usually pretty thorough.

If there is none available, read on to learn how to clean replacement windows properly.

The first step is to clean the window without soap.

Use a soft cloth and gently rub the glass.

Wipe with a damp chamois and let the water soak up.

Only add small amounts of mild cleaner.

This can be gentle dish soap.

For larger windows, use small squeegees to remove water.

You can also clean the screen by gently vacuuming with an attached soft brush.

If the manufacturer’s sticker is still attached, gently peel it off.

After the adhesive is there, use water and a little soap to gently scrub it off.

Make sure to use a cloth in cleaning to get rid of the sticker.

For vinyl frames or tracks, use a diluted mix of mild soap and water.

There are things you absolutely shouldn’t do when trying to clean your windows.

Doing these things could damage your window and require a home window repair to get them fixed.

The worse case scenario is that the window could be far too damaged that you’d require a window replacement.

Never use power washers or high pressure sprays.

These can damage the seal making them less air tight.

Never use really strong detergents or solvents.

Using these weakens the protective coating surrounding the glass.

They can also affect the vinyl, fiberglass, or wood as well as the joints of the window.

Don’t use WD-40 or any other oil based lubricants that can potentially attract dirt.

This would make your windows really difficult to use and hard to keep clean.

Last but not the least, never use sharp tools.

Cutting or damaging your window seal could have a long term effect on your window.

These are some of the mistakes that could end up in you getting a new window replacement despite the window being very new.
